Wow air is probably the most famous low-fare company to travel to Iceland. They operate flights from Europe and North America.

There are many European airlines that operate in Iceland as British Airways, Easyjet, Czech airlines, Iberia Express, Lufthansa, Germanwings, Norwegian, Vueling, Wizz Air or Air Berlin.

If traveling from outside Europe, you can flight with Delta from North American or SunExpress from Turkey.

How to get to and from Keflavik airport

To get from Keflavik airport to the capital, Reykjavik, you have different options: bus, taxi, car rental or private transfer.

Regarding the bus options, Airport Direct offers convenient direct transfers from the airport until hotels in Reykjavik using minibuses. There are other companies as Flybus that also offer transfers to Reykjavik, you would go on a big buss until the capital and then at BSI station passengers change to small busses depending on their destination hotels. Gray line is another low cost airport transfer company which drops off at many hotels and guesthouses in Reykjavik. There is also a public bus available; you would have to take the bus route nr. 55 and it runs 9 times a day.

Many taxi companies are available right outside the airport terminal as well us car rental companies. Some hotels in Keflavik also offer shuttles to and from the airport, just double check before you book your accommodation.

Keflavik airport offers all the services you might need, as lost and found property office, assistance for passengers with reduced mobility or VAT refund service at Arion bank desk. Free unlimited Wi-Fi is available as well as charging stations to avoid running out of battery in your phone or laptop. At the Keflavik airport, you can also find showers and family rooms. There are food stations and kiosks as well to grab some snacks or candies and beverages. In case you have enough time before your flight, you can eat at the restaurants on the upper floor.

For the little ones of the family, there is a play area and the strollers are free to use. They will be given a colouring book and colours when going through security… Isn’t that great?

Don’t forget to pass from the supermarket inside the duty-free at the airport: all your shopping will be tax-free and it’s open 24/7. All arriving and departing passengers can shop there–bear in mind restrictions for alcohol and tobacco that visitants can import. You can also find there cosmetic products made in Iceland by local manufacturers such as Sóley Organics, Villimey, Purity Herbs, Blue Lagoon and Zopure. This is a really good option if you have to buy souvenirs to bring back home, so you don’t have to carry them all the way and also you will save some money!
